I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the closed door to my bedroom. I ran my claws through my mane, trying to contain the tumultuous storm that raged inside of me.

I knew what this was, these feelings. I'd been told my whole life that this period of transition would be a celebration, a joyous shift from waiting to true legal adulthood. A fire burned in my veins, urging me to find her, to take her, to make her mine with every ounce of vicious possessiveness within me.

I knew what this was.

This was the longing that happened when a mate bond was initiated but not consummated. It would drive me to the very edge of my control, growing worse every moment I spent around her.
